1. Orbitrap
1) Hydraulic system

23) Quadrupole mass filter with hyperbolic rods, providing variable and stepless precursor isolation
width selection from 0.4 Da to more than 2250 Da.
24) The mass spectrometer is of a quadrupole - Orbitrap or ion mobility - quadrupole - TOF
configuration delivering high resolution and accurate masses at all modes of operation.
25) The mass spectrometer must be capable of real-time data acquisition and data processing,
enabling a high spectrum repetition rate.
26) The mass spectrometer utilizes higher collision dissociation for generating fragment spectra.
27) The mass spectrometer must be able to perform parallel filling and detection to increase duty
cycle.
28) The mass spectrometer must have a differentially-pumped vacuum system.
29) The mass spectrometer must have a high-vacuum aluminum manifold.
30) The detection system must have digital electronic noise discrimination.
31) The API control must include high-voltage dual-polarity power supply, sheath gas flow control,
and auxiliary gas flow control to accommodate a wide variety of applications.
32) Must include the probe which is capable of temperatures up to 750oC or an independently
heated ion capillary tube, heated by an external heater capable of temperatures up to 400°C.
33) The ion capillary tube must be removable to provide vent-free maintenance.
34) Must be able to perform rapid switchover between APCI and ESI using quick release connecting
retainers, and without breaking vacuum.
35) Flow rates : 5μl/min ~ 2 ml/min or wider using 100% water without splitting.
36) Must include an electrically-isolated electrospray needle capable of voltage-regulated operation
up to ± 8 kV at 100 μamps discharge current.
37) The heated ESI probe needle must be moveable in the x,y and z dimensions relative to the
sampling orifice for optimal tuning.
38) The probe must be capable of temperatures up to 550°C or more to increase the desolvation
efficiency and decrease chemical noise.
39) Performance specification must be provided as follows ;
(1) Resolution : maximum resolution of ≥280,000 (FWHM) with 1Hz scan rate using Orbitrap or
≥35,000 (FWHM) awith 100Hz scan rate using Q-TOF and ion mobility.
(2) Mass accuracy : ≤3 ppm RMS with external calibration over 24h and without any kind of mass
recalibration ≤1 ppm RMS with internal calibration.
(3) Sensitivity : 30 fg Buspirone on column yields S/N ≥100:1 using SIM mode or 200 fg
Reserpine on column yields S/N ≥60:1 using MS/MS mode.
(4) Quadrupole - Orbitrap mass range : 50 - 6,000 m/z or ion mobility - quadrupole - TOF
mass range : 5 - 40,000 m/z.
(5) Polarity switching : one full positive and one full negative scan in less than one second.
(6) MS detection : ≥16-bit signal digitalization or ≥40GHz four channel time-to-digital converting.
